Transforming Bus Stops Through Community Art
Bringing color, culture, and creativity to the Blue Bus and our communities.
The Blue Bus believes transit spaces should reflect the communities they serve. Through Art at Bus Stops, North Central RTD is partnering with local artists, the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and residents to bring public art to selected bus stops in Santa Fe, Rio Arriba and Taos counties —making them more welcoming, inspiring, and uniquely Northern New Mexican.
This initiative is about more than beautification—it’s about belonging.
Get Involved: Join the Advisory Committee
We’re seeking passionate community members to help guide this initiative.
What the Committee Does:
- Review artist proposals
- Help select final designs
- Attend meetings and provide input on vision and impact
- Ensure the work reflects local identity, culture, and creativity
You don’t need to be an artist—just someone who cares about our communities and the stories they tell. We especially encourage artists, youth, elders, commuters, and storytellers to apply.
Apply to Join the Committee
Seven advisory board members will be selected from Santa Fe, Taos and Rio Arriba counties and be asked to serve either one- or two-year terms with each term requiring attendance of four to six mandatory meetings annually. Board members are expected to be active promoters of the program and ambassadors for public art using their professional and social skills and resources for the benefit of the project. Please note: Applying does not guarantee selection. Participation is wholly voluntary. For more information, see the FAQs.
Artist Opportunities Coming Soon
We’ll soon issue a call for artists to create original work for select bus stops. Stay tuned for submission guidelines, compensation details and design specs.
