On February 4, communities across the country recognize Transit Equity Day, a day rooted in the civil rights movement and dedicated to advancing equal and fair access to public transportation. Today honors the legacy of Rosa Parks and reminds us that transportation is not just about movement but also about opportunity, dignity and access to the places and people that matter. 

To honor Transit Equity Day, we’re taking an extra step to support access and affordability. On February 4, on-demand MyBlue™ rides will be completely fare-free. 

Why Transit Equity Matters 

Reliable and affordable transportation connects people to jobs, education, healthcare, resources and community. When transit isn’t accessible or affordable, those opportunities become harder to reach. Transit equity means ensuring everyone, regardless of income, age, ability or where they live, has a fair chance to get where they need to go. 

Public transportation has played a critical role in advancing social and economic equity. When done right, it becomes a powerful tool for independence and inclusion.
