Launching Veterans Day – November 11, 2025

North Central RTD is proud to introduce the Military & Veterans Fare-Free MyBlue™ Program.

This program provides fare-free rides on our MyBlue™ on-demand microtransit service for all eligible veterans and active-duty military members.

Eligible riders can enjoy complimentary transportation within any MyBlue™ service zone. Simply apply online by completing a brief form to verify your eligibility and receive a Military/Veteran Membership in your MyBlue™ North Central RTD account, allowing you to automatically book fare-free rides.

 Accepted forms of identification include:

  • Valid Veteran ID Card
  • Valid New Mexico driver’s license, with a veteran’s designation
  • Valid U.S. Military ID card (active duty or retired)

The program begins November 11, 2025, in recognition of Veterans Day. It aims to make it easier for veterans and service members to access employment, healthcare, and community connections without transportation costs standing in the way.

By removing fare barriers, North Central RTD reaffirms its commitment to equitable mobility and to the veterans and military members who serve and strengthen our region.

    How to Apply

Complete a short online form below to verify eligibility. After approval, your MyBlue™ account will automatically include the Military/Veteran Membership, allowing you to book fare-free rides through the app or by phone.

If you are unable to complete the online form, we have a pdf version you can download, print, and mail to us at:

    Frequently Asked Questions

Who qualifies for the Veterans Fare-Free MyBlue™ Program?

All U.S. military veterans and active-duty service members with valid identification are eligible.

     What IDs are accepted?

You can show a Military ID (active duty or retired), VA ID, Veteran Health ID, or driver’s license with a veteran designation.

How can I start riding for free?

Apply online for the Military/Veteran Membership or give us a call and we’ll mail the form to you.

Do I need to reapply every year?

No, your Military/Veteran Membership remains active as long as your ID is valid. If your status or ID changes, please update your information with NCRTD.

Can I get a refund for previous rides?

Refunds are not available, but you can easily apply your free ride to your next trip.

Does this apply to all NCRTD services?

The fare-free benefit currently applies to the MyBlue™ on-demand microtransit service in all MyBlue™ zones.

Can I ride for free the first time I show my ID?

Your ride will have a regular fare until your account is approved. Once your application has been processed and approved, your next MyBlue™ trip will be free. This ensures your account and membership stay accurate and ready for future rides.

Do I need to do anything else to get my free ride?

Nope! Just submit a copy of your ID to us, and once approved, your free ride will automatically be applied to your next trip.

Do I get a refund for the ride I’m currently on?

Once approved, the program automatically applies your free ride to your next trip. This makes using your benefit simple and hassle-free. Rides booked before your application is approved are not eligible for a refund.

Can the driver see my membership or fare-free status?

No, drivers cannot view your MyBlue™ account, membership, or fare-free status. Make sure your eligibility is approved in your account before your ride, as drivers cannot grant free rides on the spot.

Can my family ride free with me?
Yes! When you book your trip, just indicate how many passengers will be riding with you. Anyone included in your booking will ride free under your account.

How long do fare-free rides last?

Your fare-free rides are active as long as your Military/Veteran ID is valid. For active-duty service members, the membership is valid as long as your military ID is current. When your ID expires, you’ll need to show a new valid ID to continue riding fare-free. Veterans’ memberships do not expire, so eligible veterans can continue using the service indefinitely. To ride, members must remain in good standing with MyBlue™, following all rules and avoiding repeated no-shows or other violations.

Will I lose my fare-free rides for rider rule violations?

All riders must follow MyBlue™ rules while using the service. Occasional missed rides or minor rule violations may result in temporary suspensions, which temporarily prevent you from riding until your account is back in good standing. Once any suspension ends, your fare-free rides remain active.
