National Transportation Week
Every day, public transportation connects our communities to work, school, healthcare and each other. During National Transportation Week, May 11 – 15, we’re taking a moment to recognize not just our service, but the people behind it.
Our team is at the heart of everything we do. From early morning routes to late afternoon drop-offs, from maintaining our fleet to assisting riders, each role plays a part in keeping north central New Mexico moving.
Meet the People Behind the Blue Bus
This week, we’re proud to highlight members of our team across all departments. Through their stories, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at what it means to work in public transit and why it matters.
Meet Paul, a driver who knows his riders by name and looks forward to seeing them each day.
Meet John, a Fleet and Facilities Manager who keeps our buses safe and our bus stops clean.
“I think it’s important that we’re here because everyone knows that Blue Bus services everyone equally. We don’t discriminate. All we’re trying to do is be a service to our community and do our mission, which is taking care of people.”
Meet Teresa, a Customer Service Representative coordinating rides to ensure our riders get to the people, places and things that matter.
Meet Bryan, a Deputy Executive Director for Operations who supports our Supervisors, Drivers, Customer Service Representatives and Fleet and Facilities crew.
“I came up as a bus operator before I came up through leadership. The Blue Bus workforce runs long routes through demanding terrain so riders across northern New Mexico can get where they need to go. Operators, mechanics, dispatchers, supervisors. They are the lifeline. This week is for them.”
Each story is a reminder that public transportation is more than schedules and stops. It’s built on relationships, trust, and care.

But what makes it truly special is the human connection. A friendly greeting, a helping hand and a familiar face at the same stop each day.
